Steven G. Reece, M.D.
The Sports Medicine Center
After earning a bachelor degree from Duke University, Dr. Reece received his Doctorate of Medicine with academic honors from the Medical College of Virginia/VCU. He then did an Internship at Wake Forest University Medical Center before returning to MCV/VCU to finish his Residency in Family Practice. He went on to the University of North Carolina Health System where he completed a Fellowship in Sports Medicine, and now holds a Certificate of Added Qualification in Sports Medicine. Dr. Reece is a Diplomate of the American Board of Family Practice and member of the American and Virginia Academy of Family Practice, the American Medical Society of Sports Medicine, and the American College of Sports Medicine. Other appointments include Assistant Clinical Professor of Family Practice at MCV/VCU, Assistant Physician of the Richmond Ballet, and Team Physician for Benedictine High School. He continues to speak on current Sports Medicine issues at both local and national levels, and is published in several medical journals and texts.
Advanced Orthopaedic Centers welcomes Dr. Reece back to Richmond after serving as Team Physician for the University of Georgia. Other past positions in his wide range of experience in Sports Medicine include service as a team physician for several Richmond area high schools, the Richmond Rhythm (IBL Basketball), the X-Games Summer Trials, the Richmond Open Golf Tournament (Buy.com), the United States Olympic Swimming Team (2000 Olympic Trials), Elon College, the Carolina Hurricanes (NHL), and the New York Yankees’ Single A affiliate Greensboro Bats. His experience also includes extended time with the Minnesota Timberwolves and Atlanta Hawks of the NBA.
